Alice Marie (Brown) Shaw, age 81, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, April 3, 2015 at the Franklin Meadows Nursing Home. She was a resident of Franklin.
Alice was born in Morgantown on December 16, 1933, to the late William E. and Mildred M. (Sanders) Brown. She married Avery G. Shaw on November 27, 1952 in Jeffersonville. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2010 after 57 devoted years of marriage.
She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed camping with her husband on their property in Kentucky. Alice also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, working in her flower gardens and tending to her many cats.
She is survived by her children: Elaine (Michael) Sisson of Trafalgar and Joseph (Tamara) Shaw of Madison. She will be remembered by her grandchildren: Tammi Weaver, Michelle Henry, Joseph D. Caddel III, Brett E. Reigel, Joseph D. Shaw Jr. & Krista May Shaw; step grandchildren: Brent Sisson, Ginnie York, Bradley Sisson and Tory Eickleberry; great grandchildren: Haley, Noah, Samantha, Mariah, Sarah, Trey, Alysia and Bjorn: step great grandchildren: Peyton, Parker, Cody, Hunter, Maverick and Aaliyah; sister in laws: Linda Brown of Brown County and Joan Shaw of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews
Alice was preceded in death by a son: Garret Wayne Shaw; daughter: Ruby Ann Caddel; siblings: Austin Brown and Jo Ann Brown; and one granddaughter: Sarah E. Shaw.
The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a celebration of Alice's life at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Meredith – Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral Home.
